John joined the law firm of Strong & Hanni after practicing at another firm for several decades, working as general counsel for a client, and creating his own solo firm.  He thoroughly enjoys helping clients navigate through their legal challenges and finding solutions to complex problems. John has years of experience helping clients as outside general counsel.  He works closely with management to create strategies that provide solid solutions.

John’s practice focuses on intellectual property, and business transactions. He has represented clients in choosing and adopting hundreds of trademarks, and counseled them how to build value in their brands, and avoid infringement. The resolution of domain name disputes is frequently part of the strategy for brand protection. His intellectual property practice includes representing clients with drafting and negotiating software development and license agreements, database license agreements, SaaS agreements, terms of use, and related documents.

John has been involved in many complex business transactions, and has represented clients in negotiations, drafting critical contracts, and managing the transaction process.

A unique niche for John is working with the real estate industry to help brokers and multiple listing services implement contracts and license agreements, and create structures for protecting valuable intellectual property included in real estate listings.  This includes addressing issues of conducting business online that is consistent with legal and regulatory requirements, including national association compliance.
