Ryan M. Stephens
Shareholder
Ryan has extensive experience litigating complex civil and criminal cases in both state and federal court. He represents clients in insurance defense, construction, personal injury, environmental, governmental entity defense, and general commercial law matters. Ryan represents clients at all stages of litigation, including trials and appeals. His appellate work experience includes matters before Utah Appellate Courts, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals.
Ryan grew up in Vancouver, Washington and moved to Utah to attend Brigham Young University, where he graduated with a B.S. in environmental science. Ryan received his law degree from Emory University in 2015. During law school he worked at the Turner Environmental Law Clinic and was a managing editor of the Emory Bankruptcy Developments Journal.
Prior to joining the firm, Ryan served as an Assistant Utah Attorney General where he defended the State of Utah, government employees, public school districts, universities, and other governmental entities in civil litigation. Ryan has also provided general counsel to government agencies and officials on proposed legislation, state administrative rules, federal regulations, contracts, and the state procurement process.
