I come from a large family. I am the oldest brother of six, and a happily married father of five. When I was two years old my father was killed in Vietnam. Several years later my mother remarried, so my family is a blended one, with two stepsisters, two half-brothers (one who recently passed away) and a full sister.
From an early age I experienced the ups and downs of a family business. My stepfather ran a successful plumbing business in Southeastern Idaho. As a young kid I remember that when business was good, we had a big Christmas, when business was tight, we had a small Christmas. What never varied was my parents’ commitment to our family.
Jumping forward a few years, I attended Ricks College (now BYU Idaho), served a mission in France and Switzerland for my Church, graduated from Brigham Young University in finance, graduated from the University of Idaho with a law degree, and graduated from Georgetown University Law Center with a Masters of Law in Taxation.
As a young tax attorney, one of the first cases I worked on dealt with a retained earnings tax for a C-Corporation and understanding how to calculate the Bardahl Formula. This formula looks at a taxpayer’s current assets, current liabilities, payables, inventory, and other items taken from the taxpayer’s financials. The senior partner dealt with the Revenue Officer, and I did the research, at the end of the day the taxpayer was successful in avoiding taxation, interest and penalties.
Since that time, I have worked hard to help individuals as well as family-owned businesses protect their assets. Whether it is a tax controversy with the IRS or State Tax Commission, tax resolution, payroll taxes, offers-in-compromise, tax liens and tax levies, innocent spouse relief, asset protection, family owned business and small business planning, estate planning, etc., the tools that I have in my toolbox are focused on solving these problems and helping families:
- End the sleepless nights
- Stop the family stress about IRS Debts
- Clean up tax liens and tax levies preventing the family from buying that St. George Condo or Family Cabin they have always dreamt of
- Resolving back tax debt for less than what the IRS says the taxpayer owes, saving thousands of dollars or tens of thousands of dollars
- Obtain that peace-of-mind that they are looking for

Outside of Work
When I am not working, I love to hang out with my family and friends. I have been blessed with an active family. Our current favorite family actives are fly fishing, boating, hiking, college football, high school lacrosse, high school tennis and most recently pickleball.
It seems that my wife and children take me everywhere to watch them compete in pickleball. From tournaments in Southern Utah, to Las Vegas, to Palm Springs, we have gone everywhere to see family play. It is a lot of fun, and I would not have it any other way.
